A National Police operation culminated this afternoon with the arrest of a man on the Madrid road in Jaén, near the petrol stations at the entrance to the Los Olivares Industrial Park. The arrest followed a lengthy pursuit that began in the province of Granada and involved several police units.
The suspect, driving a car that displayed numerous bullet holes in its bodywork, had previously evaded a police checkpoint. During the high-speed chase, the driver circumvented a surveillance operation before being intercepted in Jaén territory.
To stop the vehicle, officers were forced to use force, ramming the car with a police van and thereby immobilising it. The detainee is being investigated for alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
Following the arrest, the car was taken to police premises for analysis and the National Police are continuing their investigation to clarify all details of the incident.
