Man arrested in Las Palmas for five thefts and one robbery with violence in port-canteras area

Arrested with stolen items among his possessions
The National Police detained a 32-year-old man on 19 August in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the alleged perpetrator of five theft offences and one robbery with violence, according to Google News ES — Crime (es). The detainee also had three previous court orders outstanding against him.
The investigation began following several complaints filed by shop employees and a delivery worker in the port-canteras area, who had suffered thefts when not paying attention. The suspected perpetrator took advantage of moments when workers were occupied with their tasks to steal mobile phones, wallets and bank cards from them.
In some cases, once in possession of the stolen cards, he attempted to use them in other establishments to carry out fraudulent transactions, according to details provided by the Canary Islands Superior Police Headquarters.
The inquiries carried out by officers made it possible to identify the suspect and link him to the five thefts. In the course of the same proceedings, the robbery with violence offence was also attributed to him.
When he was located and detained on 19 August, officers found among his possessions items originating from the thefts under investigation. Once police proceedings were concluded, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, which ordered his immediate imprisonment.
