Arrested in Madrid for 13 residential burglaries with forced entry
National Police have arrested a man accused of breaking into 13 homes in Madrid's Centro district by kicking down the front doors, according to noticiasdenavarra.com.
The suspect targeted properties in old buildings whose wooden panelled doors proved particularly vulnerable. Once inside, he took small but high-value items—jewellery and electronic devices—to avoid drawing attention during his escape. The stolen goods were subsequently sold.
The investigation intensified in June, coinciding with the start of summer and the usual spike in this type of crime. Officers located the suspect on 18 August while he was wandering through the Centro district and, according to the investigation, was heading to commit another burglary.
Following his arrest, he was brought before the courts and immediately sent to prison, charged with 13 counts of burglary with force and one count of fraud.
On the same day, officers arrested the suspect's romantic partner on suspicion of receiving stolen goods for having sold items from the break-ins. During the operation, police recovered several pieces of jewellery and a watch linked to the investigated burglaries.
