The National Police detained a man as the suspected author of an attempted murder offence after stabbing another man in central Vigo during the early hours of 21 June, according to reporting by Google News ES — Crime (es). The victim sustained a stab wound on the left side, very close to the heart, and police officers themselves had to provide emergency care to contain the bleeding until the arrival of medical services.
The CIMACC-091 Control Room mobilised a patrol from the Citizen Assistance Group of the Vigo-Redondela Police Station after receiving notification of a brawl. The fight reportedly had its origin, allegedly, in disputes stemming from a football match.
According to the National Police, several of those involved made use of belts and broken bottles during the altercation. Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed a man fleeing whilst the victim, seriously injured, pointed him out as the attacker.
One of the patrols took charge of assisting the wounded man, covering the wound and applying pressure to stem the blood loss. Simultaneously, another unit began pursuing the suspect, maintaining visual contact at all times with him and ordering him over a loudspeaker to stop.
Officers finally managed to intercept him by blocking his way with the police vehicle and proceeded to his arrest. The victim was transferred to a hospital given the severity of his injuries, whilst the detainee was placed at the disposal of the authorities as the suspected author of an attempted murder offence.
