The National Police detained a man in central Vigo for attempted homicide after stabbing another person in the left side, in an area close to the heart. According to farodevigo.es, the incident occurred in the early hours of 21 during a fight in which several participants used belts and broken bottles.
The altercation originated from grievances stemming from a football match that those involved had played. Officers from the Citizen Assistance Group of the Vigo-Redondela Local Police Station were called to the scene, where they found the victim seriously wounded. The police officers immediately proceeded to seal the wound and apply compression to stop the bleeding until the arrival of medical services, who transported the injured man to hospital.
The assailant fled whilst the victim, still conscious, identified him as responsible for the assault. A police unit began pursuing the suspect whilst maintaining visual contact at all times and ordering him via loudspeaker to stop. Finally, the officers managed to block his path with the police vehicle and proceeded with his arrest a few minutes later.
The arrested man was taken to police headquarters as the suspected perpetrator of an attempted homicide offence. The following day, 22, he was brought before the duty magistrate at plaza 6, who ordered his release with a restraining order regarding the complainant.
The case was initiated for attempted homicide, although authorities at the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG) indicate that the charge could be modified during the investigation and result in a lesions offence.
