Spanish man, 46, arrested for stabbing young Ecuadorian in San Isidro park, Madrid
A 46-year-old man was arrested after stabbing a 22-year-old youth in San Isidro park, Carabanchel. The victim was transferred in serious condition to hospital.
Arrest following stabbing in Carabanchel park in early morning hours
The National Police arrested a 46-year-old Spanish man as the suspected perpetrator of the stabbing of a 22-year-old young Ecuadorian in San Isidro park, in the Madrid district of Carabanchel, according to elmundo.es.
The attack took place around 02:30 on Friday, at the junction of Vía Carpetana with paseo de la Ermita del Santo. Several witnesses who were in the area alerted National Police officers who were patrolling the surrounding area.
Samur-Protección Civil treated the victim, born in 2003, for a stab wound to the right hemithorax. After being stabilised on site, he was transferred to a hospital as a potentially serious patient. Municipal Police officers escorted the medical convoy to expedite the transfer.
Officers deployed a search operation in the area and, minutes later, located a man with blood residue on his clothes. The suspect was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the assault.
A few metres from the point where he was intercepted, police found a butterfly knife that could be linked to the stabbing. The weapon will be subjected to forensic analysis as part of the investigation that has been opened.
The National Police have assumed responsibility for the proceedings to determine the motive for the attack and the relationship between the detained man and the victim.
