The Urban Guard and the Neighbourhood Police of the district have arrested the suspected perpetrator of a series of container fires recorded in Sant Gervasi and Pedralbes, according to reports from ajuntament.barcelona.cat.
A total of 18 fires occurred between 6 May and 5 August in both neighbourhoods. In addition to damage to urban fixtures, the flames affected 11 vehicles, the paving of Plaça del Monestir—classified as protected heritage—and the wall of Escola Sant Marc.
In one of the incidents, the fire reached a gas pipe at Escola Abat Oliba Loreto, which forced the supply to the centre to be cut off for two days. The total damage caused by the fires amounts to approximately 115,000 euros.
