A man under investigation for murder has been remanded in custody without bail following the discovery of human remains in Alhaurín de la Torre. The victim, a resident of Coín, disappeared in 2020.

The man arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death of a man who disappeared in 2020 has been remanded in custody, with the measure communicated and without bail, by order of a court in Málaga. According to malagahoy.es, the High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) announced on Friday that the duty judge imposed the precautionary measure following questioning of the suspect, who exercised his right not to make a statement.
The case came to light in June 2025, when two municipal workers found a human skull inside a junction box in a plot of land owned by the municipality on Calle Antequera, in the Pinos de Alhaurín development in Alhaurín de la Torre. The remains were found inside a deteriorated double plastic bag and retained a lock of hair; one of the teeth was also missing.
Based on these clues, the Civil Guard identified the victim in February 2026: a resident of Coín who had been missing since the pandemic. The investigation took a decisive turn when the arrested man himself, during police questioning, pointed out to officers the location where the rest of the deceased's remains were found.
The arrested man is being investigated for alleged homicide. The case, which has been ongoing for nearly six years, will continue at Málaga Provincial Court number 14.
The Pinos de Alhaurín development, situated in an area close to the sierra and consisting of dispersed single-family homes, began its development in the late 1970s. The file remained open pending the results of forensic analysis carried out on the skull.
