Man arrested for stealing from 115 lockers at Jaén Hospital Médico-Quirúrgico

The National Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of forced thefts in the changing rooms of the Hospital Médico-Quirúrgico de Jaén, according to reports from cadenaser.com. In total, 115 lockers belonging to staff at the centre were forced open during several overnight burglaries.
The investigation was carried out by the UDEV-Heritage Group of the Jaén Provincial Police Station, with the collaboration of the Provincial Scientific Police Brigade. The incidents date back to the end of April, when the first break-in occurred at several lockers during the early hours of the morning, taking advantage of the hospital's low activity during those hours.
A few days later, a second, larger-scale theft took place, affecting nearly 90 lockers in another changing room of the hospital complex. The damage caused to the facilities exceeds €15,000, in addition to items stolen from healthcare staff.
According to the police investigation, the detainee gained access to the premises through secondary entrances to bypass security controls, and operated in the early hours to reduce the risk of being discovered. The inquiries made it possible to identify him as the suspected perpetrator; the arrested man had a criminal record for offences against property.
