The Alcúdia Local Police arrested a 51-year-old Spanish national on Monday as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery committed at the home of a 95-year-old neighbour in this Mallorcan town. The attack left the elderly man with contusions across his entire body, requiring him to be taken to a hospital.

The incident occurred during Monday afternoon. The victim, also a Spanish national, managed to contact emergency services despite the injuries sustained. Municipal officers attended the property and assessed the condition of the nonagenarian, who presented with generalised bruising.

The Local Police and Guardia Civil immediately activated an operation to apprehend the aggressor. Finally, officers from the local police motorcycle unit succeeded in arresting the suspect. According to police sources, the detainee has a known criminal record with the security forces and is linked to the use of narcotics.

The investigation has been handed over to the Guardia Civil, which will assume direction of proceedings.
