Man arrested in Orihuela linked to Swedish criminal organisations
National Police officers have arrested an individual in Orihuela, Alicante, with connections to Swedish criminal gangs specialised in organised crime activities, including the supply of weapons for the commission of violent offences. The operation was carried out in coordination with Swedish police authorities.
The arrest was executed in compliance with a European Arrest Warrant issued by the prosecutor's office of the Scandinavian country. Spanish law enforcement located and apprehended the suspect in the Alicante municipality following receipt of the extradition request.
According to ABC, the arrested man was part of a transnational criminal network engaged in multiple illegal activities. Cooperation between both police forces enabled them to locate the individual involved, who was in Spanish territory.
The investigation forms part of joint efforts between European Union member states to combat international organised crime and the movement of offenders across borders.
