A 57-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman have been remanded in custody after the Guardia Civil detained them for operating a cocaine distribution point from a well-known establishment in Portocolom, according to ultimahora.es.
The investigation, named Operation "Sotim" and carried out by officers from the Santanyí Main Station, established the existence of a highly active drug distribution point at the premises. The inquiry began following information received about alleged regular cocaine sales at the restaurant.
During a search of the establishment, conducted with the collaboration of a specialist drug detection dog unit, officers found several cocaine wrappings concealed inside, scales for weighing the substance and cash money. Initial actions also detected financial operations allegedly linked to money laundering connected with the acquisition of drugs.
The two detainees were presented to a judge on 15 August. The duty court ordered their remand in custody. The operation has resulted in the dismantling of a drug distribution point that was operating under the guise of a catering business.
