The Guardia Civil has arrested two men of German nationality, aged 33 and 35, requested by the authorities of their country for their alleged membership of an international drug trafficking network, according to ondacero.es. One was arrested in Tenerife and the other in Cartagena, in the Region of Murcia.
The investigation began in Germany in 2021 under the coordination of the Federal Criminal Investigation Office (BKA), which later requested Spain's collaboration. The inquiries in Spanish territory were handled by the Organised Crime and Anti-Drug Team of the Guardia Civil in Alicante.
According to the proceedings, both detainees were part of a criminal organisation that dispatched significant quantities of cocaine, amphetamines and cannabis from Spain destined for Germany. The two men are alleged to have left that country in June 2025, in the face of increased police pressure on the organisation.
During the inquiries, investigators managed to intercept several dozen drug shipments. Officers initially located one of the suspects in Alicante and the other in Tenerife, although their continuous movements made it difficult to carry out the arrests.
The fugitive located on the island was arrested on 28 January, whilst the second suspect was detained on 7 July at a property in Cartagena.
Both have been placed at the disposal of the National Court and remanded in custody pending their extradition to Germany.
