Armed institute officers have opened proceedings against two people in the municipality of Silleda, in the province of Pontevedra, following multiple complaints regarding digitally altered photographs. One of those involved is 29 years old and is attributed with an offence against moral integrity; the other, aged 35, is identified as the principal architect of the manipulations.
The unit specialising in technological crimes of the Galician command has conducted the investigation. According to findings, the pair allegedly produced false nude material and shared it in sexual content contexts. The total number of victims reaches 22.
To carry out these manipulations, the suspects used artificial intelligence software that allows the creation of impersonations from portraits obtained on social media platforms. The case has been referred to the judicial body in Lalín.
Police authorities warn that the production or dissemination of modified private photographs without permission may constitute a serious breach of the rights of those harmed, with possible consequences in the criminal sphere. They advise affected persons to file a complaint promptly, maintain no communication whatsoever with those perpetrating these acts, and regularly verify privacy settings on their social media accounts, reducing the visibility of their personal files.
