The Public Prosecution Service of the Balearic Islands is demanding a combined sentence of 25 years for two German tourists who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman from their own country in Arenal, Playa de Palma, in May 2022. In addition to imprisonment, the Public Prosecution Service is demanding that they compensate the victim with €30,000.

The events date back to 25 May of that year. The two accused met the woman in a nightclub in the area. The victim showed clear signs of intoxication. One of the men persuaded her to accompany him to his hotel room, where he allegedly forced her without her consent.

Subsequently, the second individual entered the room and also sexually assaulted her. The first perpetrator recorded the second rape with his mobile phone.

The public prosecution is seeking nine years in prison for both of them for the sexual abuse. To the first of them it adds a further seven years for cooperating in the second assault by recording it, which raises its individual request to sixteen years.

The trial against the two defendants will be held shortly in the Provincial Court of Palma.
