Fugitive sought for machine gun attack in Delmenhorst arrested in Valencia
Officers from the National Police have arrested a fugitive in Valencia wanted by German authorities under a European Arrest Warrant (EAW), according to interior.gob.es. The detainee is accused of participating in an attempted murder committed in September 2025 in the German town of Delmenhorst, an offence for which he could face a life sentence.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with EUROPOL, the SIRENE Bureau and Delmenhorst Police. According to investigations, the fugitive acted alongside three other accomplices, each with an assigned role within a coordinated plan. The detainee would have been responsible for prior surveillance of the victim and execution of the attack.
The attack: machine gun fire outside a hospitality venue
The incident occurred when the victim left a hospitality establishment alone. At that moment, one of the attackers opened fire with a machine gun on multiple occasions. Those responsible fled the scene, leaving the victim seriously wounded.
The rapid intervention of emergency services allowed the victim to survive, although they were left with significant injuries from the shots received.
Following the attack, the suspected perpetrators dispersed to different destinations and cut contact with each other to hinder their location.
Joint investigation coordinated by EUROPOL
German authorities determined that two of the fugitives could be in Spanish territory, which initiated a joint investigation between the National Police and Delmenhorst Police, coordinated by EUROPOL.
Following several operational meetings, investigators managed to locate the fugitive in the city of Valencia. A plan was then established which culminated in his location and arrest.
Searches were subsequently carried out at two addresses where the suspect was hiding. The searches resulted in the seizure of three short firearms with ammunition and ready to fire, as well as electronic devices and cash.
