Fugitive wanted for attempted homicide in Delmenhorst arrested in Valencia

The National Police have arrested a man in Valencia who was wanted by German authorities under a European Arrest Warrant (EAW), according to reports. The detainee is suspected of participating in an attempted murder committed in September 2025 in the German town of Delmenhorst, a crime for which he could face a life sentence.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with EUROPOL, the SIRENE office and Delmenhorst Police. According to the investigation, the detainee was allegedly responsible for conducting prior surveillance of the victim and executing the attack.

Machine gun fire outside an establishment

The incident occurred when the victim left a hospitality establishment alone. At that moment, one of the attackers opened fire with a machine gun on several occasions, leaving the victim seriously injured. The victim survived thanks to the rapid intervention of emergency services, although he/she retains significant injuries as a consequence of the shooting.

The detainee allegedly acted alongside three other accomplices, each with a specific role within the plan. After the attack, the alleged perpetrators fled to different destinations and cut contact with each other to hinder their location.

Joint investigation coordinated by EUROPOL

German authorities determined that two of the alleged perpetrators could have taken refuge in Spanish territory. From that point onwards, a joint investigation was activated between the National Police and Delmenhorst Police, coordinated by EUROPOL.

Following several meetings and operational proceedings, investigators managed to locate the fugitive in the city of Valencia. A surveillance operation was then established which culminated in his/her location and arrest.

Subsequently, entries and searches were conducted in two residential addresses where the suspect was hiding. In both properties, three loaded short firearms that were ready to fire were seized, along with electronic devices and cash.
