Blow to 'Fanchos' clan in A Coruña: 1,410 kilograms of cocaine seized

The National Police seized 1,410 kilograms of cocaine in A Pobra do Caramiñal (A Coruña) and arrested three men, including the alleged leader of the historic 'Fanchos' clan, according to es.euronews.com. The operation was carried out with the collaboration of the United States drug enforcement agency DEA.

The investigation began on 20 August, after officers received information about the arrival of two vessels carrying a significant shipment of cocaine to a beach in the municipality. The clan, according to the Police, was reportedly responsible for unloading and guarding the drugs.

After establishing several surveillance operations, investigators observed the alleged leader and two other men making movements between a residential property and a shed near O Conchido beach. The suspects subsequently transferred several heavy packages from the shed to another property, at which point they were intercepted.

In the searches carried out subsequently, officers seized the 1,410 kilograms of cocaine, 100 grams of heroin, cash money and other items of interest to the investigation. The three arrested men are being investigated for alleged offences of membership in a criminal organisation and drug trafficking, and will be brought before the courts.
