A 27-year-old man has died after remaining hospitalised in very serious condition following an assault in the Playa de San Juan area of Alicante, according to cope.es. The incident took place at around 5.20am at the Campo de Golf TRAM stop.
Sources from the National Police confirmed the detention of the suspected perpetrator of the assault, a 22-year-old man, who remains at the Alicante National Police Station pending his appearance before a judge.
The detention was carried out by the Violent Crime Group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade of Alicante. For the moment, the exact circumstances of the incident have not been disclosed, although officers continue to take statements from witnesses and are continuing their investigations.
According to police sources, both the victim and the suspect had come from a nightclub before the incident occurred. The same sources clarified that "there was no prior argument in that establishment between the two of them" and that "they did not know each other".
