Both Pedro Sánchez and his wife reject all accusations. They maintain that the investigation is motivated by political considerations. The prime minister himself is not implicated in the case.
Gómez was charged in June. The judge also ordered the withdrawal of her passport at that time and imposed a prohibition on leaving the country. In addition, she must report to the police twice monthly until sentence is passed.
The investigation was launched in 2024 following a complaint filed by an anti-corruption group linked to the far right.
