An intense cannabis odour in a residential area of Torrox, in the province of Málaga, has led the Civil Guard to dismantle an illegal centre dedicated to cultivating and processing marijuana. The operation has resulted in one arrest and a second person charged with infractions against public health.
Residents of the area, fed up with the penetrating stench, were the ones who first alerted officers at the Torrox-Algarrobo Post. From there, the officers initiated investigation procedures and confirmed that the source of the odour was located in one of the ground-floor premises of a residential complex.
During the surveillance phase, officers observed that the entrance to the premises was protected by video surveillance cameras. With the court's approval, the premises were searched. They consisted of two well-defined areas: a space for plant cultivation and another for the production of derivatives.
Inside, three dozen cannabis plants were seized, along with various containers of oils for body use, sweets containing THC, tablets and other preparations. Cultivation tools and specific apparatus for the manufacture of these items were also confiscated.
