National Police arrested a 39-year-old man following the alleged murder of his partner in Calle Perines in Santander. Officers are investigating the case as gender-based violence.

The National Police arrested a 39-year-old man on Thursday as the suspected perpetrator of the murder of his partner, a young woman aged 27, at number 12 Calle Perines in Santander, just metres away from a lottery administration office. The detainee was transported in handcuffs to the National Police Station in the city, according to lavozdegalicia.es.
The CIMACC-091 emergency control room received the alert at 12.30 hours, with a request for police attendance at a residence in central Santander. Upon arriving at the property, officers found the woman with bleeding wounds, allegedly caused by a sharp weapon, according to a statement from the Government Delegation in Cantabria. The emergency medical services from 061, mobilised immediately, were only able to confirm her death.
The on-duty judge also attended the scene for the body removal, along with specialist units from the National Police. The detainee himself confessed to the acts before the officers.
Investigators are treating the incident as a possible case of gender-based violence and have activated the specific protocol established for this type of incident. Specialist officers are continuing to conduct investigations to clarify the exact circumstances of the homicide.
The Government Delegation in Cantabria has passed on the information gathered so far to the Ministry of Equality of the Spanish Government.
