Assault with sickle in Fene: Civil Guard searches for squatter who severed neighbour's ear

The Civil Guard in Fene, a municipality in the province of La Coruña, is searching for a man who cut off a local resident's ear on Monday without provocation. According to ABC, the attacker is a male who has been living illegally for some time alongside others in a property in the parish of Sillobre.

The assault took place in broad daylight. The man moved between parked vehicles armed with a sickle, creating scenes of panic among residents. He then approached a man standing outside a pharmacy and severed his ear without apparent reason.

The victim was taken to hospital for emergency treatment and underwent surgical intervention due to the severity of the wound. His vehicle also suffered damage during the incident.

Shortly after the assault, officers from the Armed Institute went to the occupied property to locate the suspect. According to La Voz de Galicia, the officers were at that time awaiting a court order that would allow them to access the building, despite the property owner providing them with a set of keys.

In Fene, tension with the group of occupants had been building for weeks beforehand. Residents of the municipality had already raised complaints about problems generated by these new presences in the parish of Sillobre. Locals also recall that this is not the first time the attacker has threatened them, and they have expressed their dismay at the escalation of violence recorded in the area.
