Eight arrested and 232 people identified in preventive checks across Lorca's outlying districts

Lorca Local Police intensified their presence throughout the municipal area during the past week, with particular focus on the outlying districts, according to lorca.es. The preventive operation resulted in eight arrests, 232 people identified and 116 vehicles checked.

In total, 123 public safety and traffic control operations were carried out, of which approximately thirty took place in the rural areas of the municipality. These operations form part of the Local Police's strategy to increase police presence in rural areas and prevent the commission of crimes.

Arrests for various offences

Among the eight people arrested, one was detained for a presumed offence against public health and another for assault against law enforcement agents. Two people were arrested for gender-based violence, one for driving without a driving licence and three more for traffic safety offences whilst driving under the influence of alcohol.

Traffic violations and personal mobility vehicles

In terms of road safety, officers issued 17 reports forwarded to the General Traffic Directorate, with the most frequent violations being driving without a valid vehicle safety inspection (ITV) and without compulsory insurance. Additionally, 78 interventions were processed for breaches of the Traffic Law, Motor Vehicle Circulation and Road Safety regulations, of which 27 corresponded to Personal Mobility Vehicle (PMV) users.

Municipal ordinances and public safety

Officers drew up two reports for breaches of the Municipal Ordinance on Protection and Keeping of Domestic Animals, both related to lost dogs whose owners failed to adopt minimum care and supervision measures. Likewise, 12 interventions were recorded linked to the Municipal Ordinance on Citizen Coexistence.

Reports were also issued for consumption or possession of narcotics, lack of respect towards law enforcement agents and refusal to identify oneself, in application of Organic Law 4/2015 on Citizen Security Protection.

Lorca Local Police plan to continue with this type of preventive control operation in the municipal outlying districts as a tool to strengthen neighbours' safety and ensure compliance with current regulations.
