The magistrate of the violence against women section of Barcelona's court of first instance ordered remand in custody without bail on Friday for the man arrested in connection with the death of his partner in the Sant Martí district, according to La Vanguardia. The judge also imposed precautionary measures prohibiting communication and contact with the couple's minor children and with the victim's parents. The case has been opened for the crime of homicide.
The crime was committed in the presence of the couple's two children, aged 4 and 8. After fleeing the scene and setting fire to the vehicle in which he was travelling, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to police in the early hours of Tuesday, presenting himself at a police station in the l'Eixample district.
