Drug trafficking network used florist shop in La Coruña as distribution centre
La Coruña Provincial Court is trying a gang of six people who operated from a florist shop in the city centre. The alleged leader, alias 'The Footballer', faces 10 years in prison.

La Coruña Provincial Court held a trial on Tuesday against a gang of approximately six people who, according to the prosecution, used a florist shop in the city centre as a key point for drug distribution. This is reported by eldebate.com.
The Public Prosecutor's statement details that between May and October 2021, National Police officers established that the accused acted "in a concerted and coordinated manner", dividing tasks to obtain and distribute narcotics, including the cultivation of marijuana.
The investigation documented numerous WhatsApp conversations in which customers asked the accused for "some sweets" and other code words to refer to the drugs that were dispensed from the premises.
In searches carried out at several flats belonging to the accused in La Coruña, police seized drugs valued at approximately 250,000 euros on the market, 9 mm calibre cartridges, precision scales, distribution materials, three vehicles, cash and mobile phones.
The Public Prosecutor identifies two people as leaders of the organisation. One of them, known by the alias 'The Footballer', was listed as sole administrator of Amorodos, Horticultura y Jardinería, the florist shop located on Orzán Street that acted as the hub of the network. This individual received and redistributed the drugs among the rest of the group members. Furthermore, on a property in Outeiro de Abaixo, in Sésamo, belonging to the municipality of Culleredo in the province of La Coruña, he "had at his disposal a marijuana plantation", according to the prosecution's statement.
For 'The Footballer', the prosecution requests the highest sentence: 10 years in prison and a fine of one million euros, equivalent to four times the value of the drugs seized. The investigation confirms that he "took extreme security measures" by avoiding the use of mobile phones in his communications. His partner is also among the accused and faces more than seven years in prison and a fine of the same amount.
The second leader was in charge of distributing the substance among the other accused, as well as managing orders from third-party buyers until final delivery. The Public Prosecutor requests 8 years in prison and a one million euro fine for him.
For the other three accused, the sentences requested range between three and more than seven years in prison, in addition to corresponding fines.
