Luxury speedboat worth one million euros stolen from Puerto Sóller and rammed into Guardia Civil during maritime pursuit
A 52-year-old man was arrested after stealing a fast luxury speedboat worth more than one million euros from Puerto Sóller and attempting to ram Civil Guard vessels during a 30-minute maritime chase.

A 52-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after taking a luxury fast speedboat valued at more than one million euros from a charter company in Puerto Sóller, according to the Majorca Daily Bulletin. During the subsequent pursuit through Balearic waters, the suspect attempted on several occasions to collide with Guardia Civil vessels.
The operation began early in the morning when Spain's 112 emergency service alerted officers to the theft. The company owning the vessel cooperated closely with investigators to track the speedboat, which was moving away from Mallorca with a man and a woman on board.
The Guardia Civil deployed two Maritime Service vessels and a helicopter to locate and intercept the speedboat. The pursuit moved towards Tagomago, an island off Ibiza, where officers repeatedly ordered the driver to stop and turn off the engines. The suspect ignored the instructions and continued manoeuvring to evade the authorities.
During the getaway, the man carried out several manoeuvres aimed at colliding with Guardia Civil vessels, which forced officers to maintain their distance whilst the helicopter coordinated the pursuit from the air. The chase lasted approximately 30 minutes before the suspect finally abandoned his escape attempt.
The speedboat was intercepted and the 52-year-old man was arrested. A woman travelling with him was also present at the time of the stop. The suspect faces charges of theft, resisting authority and assault against law enforcement officers.
The Guardia Civil continues investigating the circumstances of the theft and the development of the pursuit, before the case is referred to Spanish courts.
