A 15-year-old boy has died after being shot in La Pegaso park in Barcelona. Investigators are exploring the involvement of youth gangs.

On Thursday night, at around 10:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot dead in La Pegaso park, located in the La Sagrera district in the Catalan capital. Witnesses who heard the gunshots alerted the emergency services telephone line.
Teams from the Mossos d'Esquadra and medical services arrived at the scene, where they found the minor with extremely serious injuries. Resuscitation attempts proved unsuccessful and the young man died at the crime scene.
According to police reconstruction, several individuals approached the teenager, shot him on repeated occasions and fled the park. Superintendent Antoni Rodríguez has ruled out that it was a random incident or an argument that escalated: the main theory points to a premeditated attack against the victim, who was of Latin American origin.
Among the leads being pursued by investigators is the possible involvement of youth groups linked to Latin American gangs, given the profile of the deceased.
This case brings the number of murders with firearms in Catalonia this year to seven. The previous cases were related to organised crime and drug trafficking.
So far in 2026, the regional police have documented 65 incidents involving the use of pistols or similar weapons, resulting in 22 injured. The authorities warn of an increase in violence linked to drug trafficking, particularly cannabis cultivation.
Josep Lluís Trapero, the head of the Mossos, has described the homicide as an event that crosses "a red line of maximum gravity" and has guaranteed that the police force will devote all necessary resources to solving it.
The regional police force has called for a more forceful political response to the proliferation of weapons and intensive marijuana cultivation, whilst also requesting an amendment to the Penal Code that would increase penalties for illegal firearms possession and large-scale cannabis monoculture.
