During the last day of June, units of the armed force carried out an arrest in the Burgos municipality of Belorado. The arrested man, whose identity has not been disclosed, proved to be a key figure in a criminal organisation dedicated to illegal trafficking of psychoactive substances.
The operation, internally named 'Silver', began in spring of the previous year and has involved the collaboration of municipal officers from Pamplona. Its objective: to dismantle a gang that intensified its activities coinciding with the popular celebrations of the Navarre capital.
At the arrested man's residence, significant quantities of various drugs were found: ten kilos of cannabis resin, three and a half kilos of pure cocaine, three kilos of marijuana and six hundred grams of a synthetic substance known as MDMA or crystal. Additionally, thirty thousand euros in legal tender banknotes were seized.
The duty judge ordered the arrested man's remand in custody. To date, the investigation has led to the arrest of thirty-seven people at different locations across the country, including Madrid, Logroño, Pamplona, Estella and Belorado itself.
The investigators have managed to seize a total of one hundred and twenty-five kilos of cocaine, in addition to other substances, and one hundred and fifty thousand euros in cash. Members of the network used luxury cars equipped with false bottoms and electronic devices to evade police surveillance.
