37-year-old man from Teruel arrested in Riglos for abducting his eleven-month-old daughter
State police officers in the capital of Upper Aragon arrested a father of 37 years old from the province of Teruel. The reason: having taken his new-born daughter from Sagunto without the mother's approval.
The sequence of events began on 26 June, when the mother went to the police station in the Valencian town to file a complaint. In it she recounted that her ex-partner had taken possession of the small child, barely eleven months old, without her consent. The complaint also included charges of assault.
The criminal investigation unit of the Huesca district then deployed a search operation. After several days of tracking, the officers found the fugitive and the child in a restaurant in the small locality of Riglos, famous for its reddish rock formations. This occurred on 1 July in the afternoon.
Following the discovery, the detainee and the baby were taken to the police offices in Huesca. There the procedure for handing over the minor to her mother, who had travelled from the Valencian coast, was completed. The man had no previous criminal record and was taken before the competent court once the preliminary investigation was concluded.
