The Versailles appeals court decided on Friday that Achraf Hakimi (27) must appear before the courts to answer a rape charge. The date on which the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender will have to present himself before the criminal court of the Hauts-de-Seine department has not yet been set. This was reported by Blick.
In 2023, a woman aged 24 at the time filed a complaint with police. She alleges she was raped by the player from the Moroccan national team. Hakimi strongly denies these allegations and accuses the complainant of slander.
On Friday, the footballer spoke publicly about the matter for the first time on the X platform. He wrote that the courts had told him that without his celebrity status, proceedings would never have been opened. He explained that he had remained silent for years in order to retain his dignity and to trust in justice.
Hakimi's defence also criticises the complainant for having obstructed the investigation. She allegedly refused on several occasions to submit to medical examinations.
