Following a scathing inspection report, Laurent Nuñez has made the decision to remove two gendarmerie officers from their judicial police duties. On 22 June, the Interior Minister announced that the head of investigations and the commander of the Condom company, in the Gers, would be subject to a forced transfer in the interest of the service.
This measure follows the disappearance of Lyhanna, a young girl whose case caused a shock wave and widespread criticism of local investigation services. The inspection document, deemed particularly critical, highlighted significant shortcomings in the conduct of searches by territorial units.
Furthermore, the minister has asked the IGGN (General Inspection of the National Gendarmerie) to open a command procedure. This approach is aimed at determining precisely the responsibilities of each person involved, both in the direction of investigation operations and in the supervision of their execution.
