An organisation backed by the French Interior Ministry, tasked with overseeing sporting practices within security forces, suffered a major data breach. The incident was made public on 21 June 2026, the date on which its leaders decided to refer the matter to the judiciary.
The stolen data concerns 224,000 people, according to estimates communicated by media outlet French Breaches. The period affected spans 2012 to 2026, representing fourteen years of digital archives. Amongst the victims are uniformed personnel, members of the association as well as athletes who participated in competitions or training sessions organised by this body.
The files extracted by the attackers are of substantial scope: approximately 180,000 health certificates, more than one million summons notifications, around 380,000 sporting membership documents and hundreds of thousands of other internal management documents.
On the underground marketplace, an actor presenting themselves under the name "Misère" claimed responsibility for this data exfiltration. Nevertheless, representatives of the organisation have cautioned against hasty conclusions: they consider that there is not yet sufficient evidence to determine the true identity of those responsible nor the exact mechanisms that enabled access to the servers.
As a precautionary measure, a warning has been distributed to all members. They are being urged to exercise heightened vigilance against suspicious email messages and online fraud attempts likely to increase in the coming period.
