Dismantling of a drugs network: 315 kg seized and eleven people arrested in the West
Investigators from Nantes conducted a large-scale anti-drug operation last week in the Pays de la Loire and Brittany regions. The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 315 kilogrammes of illicit substances and the arrest of eleven individuals.
For several months, narcotics specialists from the local judicial police service and officers from the BRI had been investigating the same case. They uncovered an organisation of wholesale drug dealers that was supplying several departments. Surveillance operations did not allow them to identify entry points for the merchandise, but revealed large-scale delivery convoys. The traffickers operated discreetly, using a system close to home delivery.
In addition to the drugs, searches enabled officers to seize about ten firearms, several hundred cartridges and a sum exceeding 100,000 euros in cash. The investigation had been opened in autumn to dismantle this supply chain that was fuelling the drug trade in western France.
