On Monday 22 June 2026, a large-scale police operation was deployed across several municipalities in Haute-Marne aimed at dismantling a drug trafficking network. The intervention resulted in the arrest of ten people, including the head of the network and nine associates from his immediate circle.

The investigation began in December 2025, when the Chaumont prosecutor's office was alerted to illicit activities by an individual residing in the Chaumont area. This person was operating as a wholesaler in the distribution of drugs. The Research Section (SR) of Reims then opened a preliminary investigation in collaboration with the Regional Inter-ministerial Group (GIR) of Reims and the Research Brigade (BR) of Chaumont, under the supervision of a substitute prosecutor of the Republic.

Over the following months, investigations conducted with the support of Reims' observation-surveillance group made it possible to gather sufficient evidence. In April 2026, a judicial inquiry was opened by the investigating chamber of the Chaumont judicial court.

The searches carried out during the operation on 22 June resulted in substantial seizures: over 17 kilograms of cannabis resin, 1.1 kilograms of cannabis herb, 400 grammes of cocaine, firearms, four vehicles, €17,310 in cash, as well as watches and luxury leather goods.

Following their presentations before the courts, the ten suspects were committed for trial. Among them, five were placed in pre-trial detention.
