Dismantling of a drugs trafficking network in Chaumont: ten arrests
Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division (SR) of Reims have dismantled a criminal organisation involved in drug trafficking in the Chaumont area of Haute-Marne. The operation, conducted on 22 June 2026, resulted in the arrest of ten people.
The investigation began in December 2025, when the Chaumont public prosecutor's office was alerted to the illegal activities of an individual operating as a wholesale dealer in the region. The SR of Reims, in collaboration with the Regional Interministerial Group (GIR) of Reims and the Chaumont Investigation Brigade, then opened a preliminary inquiry under the direction of a deputy prosecutor.
In April 2026, evidence gathered by investigators, with support from the Reims surveillance and observation unit, led to the opening of judicial proceedings at the Chaumont district court.
During the operation on 22 June, law enforcement carried out simultaneous raids in several communes in Haute-Marne. The seizures made were substantial: more than 17 kilogrammes of cannabis resin, 1.1 kilogrammes of cannabis plant material, 400 grammes of cocaine, firearms, four vehicles, €17,310 in cash, and luxury watches and leather goods.
Following presentations before the court, the ten suspects were committed for trial. Five of them were remanded in custody.
