Police raids across multiple EU countries over alleged fund misappropriation by ID group
In France and other European countries, police raids are taking place on Tuesday as part of a suspicion of misappropriation of European Union funds by members of the former Identity and Democracy (ID) group in the European Parliament. The AFP agency reported this, citing the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).
The operation concerns an investigation into acts committed between 2019 and 2024. According to French newspaper Le Monde, the raids are also taking place in Spain, Italy and Belgium. In July 2025, the EPPO announced the opening of an investigation into the ID group for alleged misappropriation of 4.3 million euros, equivalent to approximately 105 million Czech crowns.
During the previous legislative term, this group brought together far-right, nationalist and Eurosceptic parties. Its members included the French National Rally (RN), Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Czech party Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD).
