A couple aged 22 and 21 was apprehended by law enforcement whilst disposing of a stolen smartphone during the Fête de la Musique. The man was also carrying a handgun.
Two young people arrested in Fort-de-France for reselling stolen mobile phone
Officers from the Anti-Crime Brigade made arrests on Tuesday 23 June of two individuals in Fort-de-France. They are a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, caught in the act of transferring a mobile telephone to a third party.
The device had been stolen during an assault targeting young partygoers, which took place on Sunday 21 June during the Fête de la Musique. Police apprehended the two suspects as they were disposing of the item.
During a search, investigators discovered a 9 mm calibre handgun, a Taurus brand weapon, on the young man. He is already known for offences related to the theft of motorised two-wheelers.
Both individuals in question were taken into provisional detention. Investigations are continuing to establish all the circumstances of this matter.
