A man in his forties originally from Clermont-Ferrand received a sentence of twelve years imprisonment for having supervised a drug trafficking operation from inside Roanne remand prison. Karim Djebari, 46, was already serving a sentence for offences of a similar nature when he orchestrated these new illegal activities between 2024 and 2025.
The defendant appeared on Thursday and Friday before the criminal tribunal of Clermont-Ferrand. Facing the magistrate presiding over the hearing, he made no attempt at denial. On the contrary, he admitted to having coordinated the distribution of cannabis and a smaller quantity of cocaine during his detention. In his own words, acquaintances would ask him for goods and he would arrange the deliveries.
To communicate with the outside, the inmate had obtained a mobile device despite the prison regime. Using this tool, he directed nine individuals for approximately ten months. These accomplices, whose ages ranged from 19 to 45, also appeared in court. Their connection to the mastermind of the network was varied: some maintained a long-standing friendship with him, whilst others had been identified through intermediaries or on digital platforms.
The investigating services devoted two years to clarifying this matter. Their work combined the monitoring of conversations, the installation of listening devices in vehicles, surveillance of suspects and the analysis of portable terminals. These technical means made it possible to establish Djebari's predominant role within the organisation.
