A new drug trafficking case has resulted in the arrest of several individuals. Investigators from Lille's judicial police coordinated a vast operation that made it possible to apprehend around a dozen protagonists. Among the people brought before a magistrate, three of them — including the head of an import-export company — were charged and placed in custody. They will be transferred to mainland France.
These arrests echo the seizure of 940 kilogrammes of white powder shipped from the Guadeloupe archipelago. This discovery had already placed the island in the spotlight in the context of this large-scale drug network. The investigations made it possible to identify several actors involved in the transport and logistics of this massive shipment.
The Lille police officers collaborated with the island's services to unravel the channels of this illicit transatlantic trade. The people arrested on site are presumed to have contributed to the loading of the container used to transport the merchandise.
