On Friday 19 June, shortly after 5 p.m., a 31-year-old man with a criminal record was arrested in Pibrac, a commune located west of Toulouse. He is suspected of attacking a 33-year-old resident by grabbing him by his clothing whilst brandishing a long blade and demanding illicit substances. This is what Midi Libre reports.
Alerted by bystanders, gendarmes arrived at the scene. The suspect then fled on foot, crossing railway tracks in an attempt to escape the police presence. Law enforcement launched a search operation mobilising several territorial units, an intervention platoon and a helicopter.
The hunt lasted approximately three hours in the area between Pibrac and Colomiers. The fugitive had taken shelter in a thicket. Surrounded by gendarmes, he eventually emerged from his hiding place and surrendered to the officers. The sharp object used in the incident was not recovered.
The person assaulted, a local resident aged 33, sustained no serious injuries. The suspect is currently being held in provisional detention for questioning. Investigators are continuing their inquiries in order to determine the true motivations and exact sequence of events in this case.
