At around one o'clock in the morning, in the night of 26 to 27 June 2026, a tragedy unfolded at 71 Chaussée Jules-Ferry, near Amiens railway station. A young woman of approximately twenty years old lost her life, struck fatally at the neck in a duplex apartment.

A ground-floor resident was woken by a man ringing the entrance doorbell of the building. The visitor was looking for his son. Shortly afterwards, male screams rang out. Police officers intervened quickly and discovered the body in a flat on the first floor.

A neighbour, questioned by Courrier picard, recounted having been taken by investigators into the apartment to provide information useful to the enquiry. He described a scene of extreme violence: traces of blood on the staircase steps, in the mezzanine bedroom and on the bed. The victim's body lay inside.

Police officers arrested a young man in his twenties at the scene, suspected of being the deceased's partner. He was placed in police custody. The suspect's father, also present in the apartment at the time of the incident, was questioned by investigators.

During the morning of Saturday 27 June, the neighbourhood was still in shock. A police car remained outside the building awaiting the undertakers and the judicial police officer responsible for sealing the premises. The victim's relatives were to be received at the police station. The prosecutor, Jean-Philippe Vicentini, did not respond to press enquiries.
