A young man lost his life during the night of Friday 5 December in Mahault, in the municipality of Lamentin. The incident occurred around three o'clock in the morning, whilst a gathering was taking place in the neighbourhood on the occasion of the "Mahault Thursdays". Gunshots then rang out, striking the victim fatally.
Investigators from the national police have opened an inquiry into voluntary homicide. In order to advance their investigations, the authorities are launching an appeal for witnesses. Any person likely to hold useful information is invited to come forward.
