Murder of Lyhanna: suspect targeted by multiple previous reports
The conclusions of inspections tasked with examining any dysfunctions in the handling of alerts concerning Jérôme Barella will be submitted on Monday 22 June to the authorities. This 41-year-old man is accused of murdering young Lyhanna in the Gers.
In recent weeks, it has emerged that the suspect had been the subject of a significant number of judicial proceedings and notifications. He is the father of two children, aged 7 and 11. His brother and his father were also involved in certain cases.
The suspect led a discreet life in Montestruc-sur-Gers, a village of nearly 700 residents, alongside his wife and his two daughters. In 2017, an initial alert had been issued against him following a relationship with a 17-year-old minor, when he was 32. This case had been closed in February 2018, with no offence established given the age of the young person and the consensual nature of the relationship.
