Murder of Théo in Rennes: appeal for witnesses to locate a woman
Investigators from the judicial police launched an appeal on Tuesday 23 June for help to locate a passer-by who was by the Vilaine on 24 May, the day of Théo's death, the eleven-year-old boy. According to Franceinfo, the person being sought was wearing green clothing and was walking along the towpath, without ever contacting the investigation services.
The boy's body was found on 24 May in the late afternoon in a wooded area situated on a bank of the river, not far from central Rennes. A piece of toilet linen was wrapped around his neck. Medical examination concluded that death was caused by strangulation.
Two suspects, a boy of sixteen and a girl of fifteen, were charged with aggravated homicide against a minor and theft committed in a group, before being placed on remand. During their police custody, they admitted trying to take revenge on the young Théo and to appropriate his fishing equipment, valued at a few tens of euros, according to the prosecutor's magistrate Frédéric Teillet.
