Narbonne: five suspects charged following death of 17-year-old teenager

A 17-year-old youth under the care of child protective services died following an extremely violent assault in Narbonne. The tragedy occurred on Friday evening. The following morning, his lifeless body was discovered on a construction site. He ultimately died on Tuesday, unable to survive his injuries.

The examining magistrate in Narbonne, Jean-Philippe Rey, revealed on Wednesday 24 June that five people had been remanded in custody and charged with attempted murder. Among them, three had not yet reached the age of majority.

The investigation suggests that this crime was meticulously planned. The accused allegedly lured their victim to a construction site with the intention of murdering him with punches and kicks. When firefighters arrived, the boy presented serious bruising to the face and bleeding from the nose and mouth.

The identification of the five alleged attackers was made possible by video recordings shared on the internet. Quickly apprehended and placed in police custody, they were summoned before an examining judge on Tuesday. It was during this procedure that the public prosecutor was officially informed of the minor's death.
