Police discover Picasso during drug raid in Paris suburb
Judicial police discovered an authentic Picasso painting during a search in a municipality located east of Paris. The operation took place on Monday, according to the newspaper Le Parisien. In addition to the work by the famous painter, investigators also seized hashish, luxury clothing and several thousand euros in cash.
According to the public prosecutor's office, four suspects were presented to a judge on the Friday following the operation. Authorities did not provide precise details about the identity of the painting found.
Le Parisien has suggested that it could be the work Pigeon with Peas, a Picasso dating from 1911. This painting was stolen in 2010 during a spectacular burglary at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, alongside other masterpieces. In 2017, art thief nicknamed "Spiderman", Vjéran Tomic, was sentenced to eight years in prison for this theft, but the Picasso had never been recovered.
