Trial of rapper Doums for assault on Adèle Exarchopoulos adjourned to 8 February
Paris criminal court adjourned the trial of rapper Doums, prosecuted for habitual domestic assault on actress Adèle Exarchopoulos, due to the medical absence of his defence lawyer.

According to France Info, Paris criminal court adjourned the trial of rapper Doums to 8 February on Monday 29 June following four hours of hearing. The court granted the defence's request due to the medical absence of Marion Coiffier, the defendant's regular lawyer. The information was confirmed by Marie Grimaud, lawyer for the civil party.
The civil party had feared this postponement. Adèle Exarchopoulos, a 32-year-old actress and two-time César Award winner, attended the hearing accompanied by several relatives, including her current partner, actor François Civil. At her request, the court ordered a partial in-camera hearing, citing the need to "ensure the serenity of proceedings and preserve the dignity of the parties" with regard to the prominence of those involved. The press and public were asked to leave the courtroom; only the actress's relatives were authorised to remain.
Allegations: repeated assault between 2017 and 2025
Mamadou Coulibaly, 33, known by his stage name Doums, is being prosecuted for habitual assault committed between 2017 and 2025 against his former partner, with whom he lived until 2018 and had a son. According to the charges read at the beginning of the hearing by the court president, the allegations include striking the actress in the face, pulling her hair, forcing his fist into her mouth, as well as threats of violence and death. These actions reportedly caused her a total work incapacity of two months.
Doums is being tried for these offences as a legal recidivist. His criminal record already contains three convictions relating to Adèle Exarchopoulos: one for domestic assault, two others for malicious telephone calls and messages. The artist attended the hearing in a relaxed state, according to observations reported following the session.
Previous conviction and potential sentences
A former member of the collective L'Entourage, Doums was moreover convicted in February by Créteil criminal court to eight months' imprisonment suspended for domestic assault against another partner, following a trial also held in camera.
For the habitual assault inflicted on Adèle Exarchopoulos, Mamadou Coulibaly faces a maximum of ten years' imprisonment and €150,000 in fines. Due to legal recidivism, French law exposes the defendant to a doubling of this maximum sentence.
