A ten-and-a-half-year-old minor is suspected of having attacked with a knife a young woman who was jogging in the Gouëdic valley.

A boy aged ten and a half is subject to judicial proceedings in Saint-Brieuc for seriously injuring a 22-year-old runner. The incident occurred on 15 June 2026 in the Gouëdic valley, a green space in the prefecture of Côtes-d'Armor.
On Wednesday 24 June, an examining magistrate from the local criminal division decided to prosecute the minor for attempted manslaughter and attempted sexual assault with a weapon. At around 10:30 a.m., the victim, who was jogging, was approached by an individual who ordered her to remove her clothing. After she refused, the attacker struck her twice with a blade, wounding her arm and abdomen, then fled.
Firefighters arrived quickly to assist the young athlete. The Saint-Brieuc public prosecutor's office immediately opened an investigation, mobilising police station staff and municipal police officers to conduct interviews and increase patrols in the area.
The suspect was arrested on 23 June by police officers on patrol, who recognised him thanks to the composite sketch produced by the victim. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a bladed weapon matching the one used in the attack. A search of his home revealed clothing identical to that described by the complainant. In police custody, the minor admitted responsibility.
Due to his age, legislation governing juvenile justice prohibits any criminal conviction. Only educational measures may be imposed. The court therefore ordered a provisional placement under a judicial educational measure, accompanied by several restrictions: prohibition from going to the Gouëdic valley, obligation to respect a night-time curfew from 22:00 to 06:00, prohibition on all contact with the victim, and monitoring through a medical care scheme. The PJJ [Youth Protection Service] will be responsible for overseeing compliance with these requirements. Steps have also been initiated for possible hospitalisation of the young boy.
