An operation against drug trafficking in the Paris region has yielded a significant discovery. Law enforcement uncovered a canvas by renowned artist Pablo Picasso, according to AFP via ORF.

The Créteil public prosecutor's office indicated that investigations into theft and receiving stolen goods were now underway. The authenticity of the painting has been verified, though the magistrates did not specify which work exactly it was.

According to information from the newspaper Le Parisien, the judicial police conducted a search at a residence in Champigny-sur-Marne, to the east of the French capital, on Monday. The searches resulted in the confiscation, in addition to the canvas, of cannabis resin, luxury articles and bundles of banknotes.

Four individuals were brought before the courts on the Friday following the operation, the public prosecutor's office stated.
